OUR STORY

About Alternative Child Care Alliance

  • Established in 2012, Alternative Child Care Alliance (ACCA) emerged from the vision of passionate organizations dedicated to revolutionizing child care practices in Kenya. It all began with the East African Orphan Summit at the City Hall Downtown Nairobi, hosted by Child Survival Centre, which sparked a dialogue among NGOs, Churches, CCIs, and Adoption Agencies. Recognizing the urgent need for an alliance to promote Alternative Family Care for Children, discussions intensified, leading to the formation of ACCA in 2017.
  • The journey to formalization was marked by significant milestones, including the pivotal Child Adoption Conference in Hilton Hotel in 2013, which galvanized support and enthusiasm for the cause. In 2016, the initiative was officially launched at Brackenhurst, Limuru, culminating in ACCA's registration as a Non-Profit Organization in October 2017.
  • Today, ACCA stands as a consortium of over 20 Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) united by a common mission: to make Kenya one of the best and safest places for children, in alignment with international treaties, the Kenyan Constitution, and UNCRC provisions on Children's Rights. Comprising founding members such as Child Survival Centre, Buckner Kenya, Little Angels Network, Feed the Children, Compassion International, and Girl Child Network, ACCA operates with a steadfast commitment to collaboration, advocacy, and strategic planning.
  • With a robust five-year Strategic Plan guiding its endeavors, ACCA continues to evolve and expand its impact under the stewardship of its dedicated board. Housed within the premises of Little Angels Network at the Kamirembe Place Building, 1st Floor, ACCA embraces its role as a catalyst for positive change, empowering communities and transforming the landscape of child care in Kenya.
